This months tips to cut crime

1.  Cars: don't leave anything

     on display, even a plastic

bag or a coat can tempt a

     thief. Make sure all car

     windows are closed and

     doors are locked. Park

your car in a well-lit street.

2. Out and about: conceal

    your wallet, purse and

    mobile phone. If using

    public transport, make sure

    you know the route, use

    well-lit streets and maybe

ask a friend to meet you

3.  Bike theft: more than half

of a bike thefts take place

     from home. Make sure

     yours is locked away and

     not visible from the street.

     Always lock it to something

     secure when out and

     about.

4. At home: check that your

    patio doors have the locks

    needed to prevent easy

    entry. Front, back and side

    doors should all have

    mortice locks. Close and

    lock all windows when out.

5. Report crime: it's

    important the Police know

what is going on, even if

    they can't visit

    immediately. If you report

a crime, do ask for a

    "reference number" to

    make sure the crime is

    recorded.
